This book is really good, it’s a little depressing though haha. The book to me seems like a very realistic version of going through the path of becoming immortal. Because of that, it at times can feel a little sad and depressing.
In the novel the only cheat/advantage the MC has is a technique that makes it easier to advance between key stages. So when going from the Qi training stage to the foundation stage and to the purple mansion stage. It also gives him a slight edge in fighting, and thats it. So because of that he haves to fight and train just as hard as the rest of the immortals. The MC also has powerful girlfriend that often times gets him out of trouble.
He starts in a cultivation family that is in decline. He haves to overcome the tragedy and hardships of improving himself and the family to grow his immortal path. He sometimes haves to be cruel to himself and the people around him to do what is best for himself and the family. Like for example for the foundation pill they have to make strict requirements in order to try and make it as fair as possible so everyone who is best for the family has a chance. They can’t make it the same for everybody because someone they don’t have enough resources and so only people with higher potential or better background can get the foundation pill.
The book is paced fairly well, they are some parts that are politic chapters that get a little boring, but he has plenty of action and plenty of chapters where the MC is trying to grow himself and his force to make himself stronger. I am halfway through the book now and have really enjoyed it so far, Going to give it 4 stars.
