I am happily surprised with how good this novel is. I expected this novel to just be a copy of other kingdom building novels where everyone gets transported and has to build their own kingdom and instead of him having dragons he has succubus. However this novel was a lot more adventure and strategy where how smart the MC uses his troops plays a key role. He is in the later generation of the group going into this new world, so there is a lot more pre-planning and understanding. Also this novel has a lot more fighting and combat scenes, where the novel feels more like a kingdom building/adventure combination.
The main character has a strong personality that wants to build his own strong kingdom. His parents died when he was young and raised by his older sister. He takes care of the people around him and treats his troops as companions and deeply cares about them. At least the ones that are powerful or close to him, as the amount of troops grows he starts to care less about some of his weaker troops which feels out of sync to me from the MC personality. I expected there to be more of a harem situation since his troops are succubus. However as of chapter 195 he has only had sex with one of the troops and is only lightling flirting with a few other characters which seems pretty light based on the title. The novel is originally Chinese so it’s PG-13 rating and doesn’t go beyond that.
It is a chinese novel so there’s some nationalism and patriotism with how great dragon country is. There is also some basic racism that is mostly just focused on Japan aka wolf country. It is only a little bit and you can ignore it for the most part and doesn’t take too much away from the novel.
In general I really liked this novel, it has a good combination of kingdom building and adventuring. The MC is definitely on the strong side but you can make the argument there are other groups/kingdoms that have stronger troops then him, at least as of chapter 195. This has kept me connected and entertained where the fights actually have tension and you don’t know if he will lose people close to him. I am going to give this novel 4 stars, I really enjoyed it and it was a lot more interesting and exciting than other kingdom building novels.
