Lord Of Flames

Lord Of Flames

I thought this novel was way too scattered and I stopped reading it at chapter 53. I might come back but I just couldn’t handle where the story is going and was getting frustrated and bored. First let’s start with the fact that the main character Lin Yan is reincarnated as a flame. To me this didn’t come across in the description of the novel and was shocking.

I have read other books where the character is a tree or a worm so even though I was thrown off I wanted to keep trying out the book. I figured maybe he can form his own body later with an avatar or something. Since the book has tags for romance and harem which seems kinda difficult as a flame haha.

We then learn he has a system where the more he burns the stronger he gets, and he has three main energy points. Life energy, which he needs to stay alive, this energy stays a factor for only the first few chapters and after that becomes a number you never need to think about.

Second is experience, where he gets a certain amount of xp based on what and how much he burns. This stat sometimes becomes very frustrating where it’s not just the amount but also the quality that he burns. This quality factor just becomes whatever the author wishes to give at that time and somehow always becomes the amount he needs for the story to continue with very little logic around it.

Lastly he gets energy from faith, this number at first seems like could be an interesting factor and got me excited because it seemed like maybe this could become a world building story where maybe he has a core group of followers. The story does head in that direction where he meets a group of fox people, which is like of course it’s fox people. The fox people treat him as a God and he starts getting faith, which is like sure let’s start with world building. The priest for the main character has to be the most beautiful fox girl that is unmarried which again it’s like ok, the girl seems nice she learns fire magic because she is a priest of the flame and then 10 chapters later we switch away from her and basically never come back.

Instead the story becomes let’s add beautiful female priests to my temple from different races. Ohh by the way the flame becomes overpowered and can basically wipe out any enemy that comes up, removing any suspense or drama to the story. This is where I stopped because I just couldn’t handle the lack of concern about these characters knowing they are going to be ok. As well as constantly adding more women to what I am assuming will be a Harem eventually.

This is why I am giving it two stars. I ended up liking some of the concepts of the story and had hopes that it could turn out good but it just became boring where the main character became overpowered and there was no character development with the harem members where the story felt pointless to continue to read.
