Ok so this story is honestly just really boring to me. I like cultivation novels and I am ok with a good mix of fighting as well as training descriptions. However this novel is 80%-90% training focused discussing how his cultivation patterns and study is set up. For having a golden finger that allows him to see through flaws you would think it would shorten his cultivation learning. However the story takes it the other way and because he can see through flaws he focuses on building the best cultivation and most complicated cultivation path possible.
I honestly had a hard time staying awake while reading this novel and I really wanted to just skip ahead. I am at chapter 183 and it’s basically the first time he is in a constant fighting situation where he is actually challenged. All the fighting scenes before this are basically him waving his hand and the author explaining that his cultivation is so awesome that he just has to wave his hand to beat anyone at his level and above his level. Which is like, if you are going to make him so powerful can he at least be challenged.
The main character is super indifferent and is just focused on growing stronger for the sake of growing stronger. He doesn’t have many close relationships, it would have been nice to have better development with his relationships with the novel so focused on training. He has this really weird relationship with his senior sister where he trains them to go from indifferent to madly in love with each other and say because it’s fate as an explanation. It’s like ok, this indifferent guy who doesn’t care about anyone is suddenly madly in love. But the author barely goes into its development and he just goes back to cultivating.
If you are someone that really likes cultivating skill development then this is a good novel for you. I am going to give this novel 3 stars. The novel is well written and goes in depth on cultivation knowledge. I just need a better mix of training and fighting otherwise the novel just becomes boring.
