Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

I don’t know what to say about this novel. This novel has such a weird combination of story lines I can’t decide if the MC has two personalities or if the story itself has two personalities.

First of all I like the idea of a novel focusing on the gravity skill. It’s a good ability that can grow and be built on top of. It’s also relatively unique and not commonly used in most stories, especially as a primary ability. The idea of the system is good, where it has the ability to increase his talent and remove future restrictions and at the same time is not overpowered. The world building is pretty good, it has a decent baseline and potential for growth where the MC can go to different worlds. That is the end of good things I can say about this novel.

The MC personality gives me serious whiplash where I have a really hard time understanding who he is and why he is doing it. He initially acts like a somewhat friendly character who doesn’t like to be bullied once he gets stronger. Pretty typical character has a loving family with a brother and parents who support him. He then later becomes someone who doesn’t care about his family most of the time and is especially mean to his brother for no reason. However a couple chapters later he wants to help his family when he grows stronger. Most of the time the MC seems to want to be low key and not cause trouble trying to grow stronger and not pushing boundaries too far. The next chapter he decides he wants to kill someone for no good reason. He literally killed someone that did not deserve it at all in order to steal from him but then decides it’s too dangerous to take the stuff after he kills him. Like can’t you think about that before you kill the innocent person? He later thinks about wanting to kill his whole class but for only some minor issues.

I can’t give this novel more than 2 stars, I am just too frustrated with the inconsistency in his character. Outside of that there are like 40-50 chapters about other people in the story who have very little with the main character. Like I don’t understand why this is in the story, when it has very little to do with the main story line, and the MC doesn’t care if these people live or die. Like why are these chapters here, I can understand it if they are core other people in the story but they really are not. He has a best friend overweight character that I care more about but doesn’t have any of its own chapters. By the way, his best friend character couldn’t be more stereotypical. He is overweight, is financially wealthy so he helps the MC why he is still weak. He has embarrassing powers but the MC doesn’t care. I am at chapter 168 and I can’t read anymore.
